Traditional Appalachian basket makers Yakim and Taylor create refined rib and split baskets using hand tools from the harvesting of white oak to the signing and dating of each basket at its completion. Though each has a unique style, they both find peace in the process of splitting, whittling, and weaving, and appreciate the simplicity, functionality, and natural beauty of Appalachian basketry.

Their baskets are sought by collectors around the world and have been featured in numerous publications, exhibitions, and museum collections, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
